4-Mercaptobenzoic acid-modified Au@Ag nanoparticle-based colorimetric Cr3+ ions detection in aqueous solution

Abstract Heavy metal ions pose a threat to both ecological balance and human health owing the non-biodegradable poisonous characteristics. A simple, convenient rapid ion monitoring plays significant role for eliminating pollution. In this work, we prepared 4-mercaptobenzoic acids (4-MBA)-functionalized silver-coated gold nanoparticles (Au@Ag NPs) as colorimetric probes construct Chromium III (Cr 3+ ) detection platform. The results showed that 4-MBA-Au@Ag NPs could effectively coordinate with low-concentration Cr group of -COOH, generating obviously reaction. To system, optimal concentration 4-MBA pH was 5 μM 9, respectively. Signal response found be proportional in range from 10 500 correlation coefficient 0.993, UV–Vis limits determined 9 μM, addition, recovery system estimated 88.2 112.1%, which satisfactory practical analysis samples. platform would have great potential applications many areas.
